Driver - Understanding the mileage allowance

Artículo actualizado el 28/02/2025

The included mileage depends on the length of your rental. You can increase your mileage allowance by buying a mileage package up to the rental start.

There’s no limit to how many kilometres or miles you can drive during your rental. If you exceed your mileage allowance (the sum of the included mileage and mileage package if you bought one), you’ll pay for the extra kilometres/miles at the end of the rental.

Included mileage

Duration Included mileage
1 hour 40 km
2 hours - 8 hours + 20 km per hour
1 day (from 9 hours) 200 km
2 days 400 km
3 days 600 km
4 days 800 km
5 days 1000 km
6 days 1100 km
7 days 1200 km
8 days 1300 km
9 days 1400 km
10 days 1500 km
11 days 1600 km
12 days 1700 km
13 days 1800 km
14 days 1900 km
15 days - 30 days 2000 km
30 days - 36 days +200 km per day
37 days +160 km
38+ days +70 km per day

If you extend your rental, the included mileage for your rental will increase automatically.

Mileage packages and extra kilometres

If you plan to drive further than the included kilometres, you can buy a mileage package to increase your mileage allowance: it helps you save up to 50% compared to paying for extra kilometres later.

You can buy mileage package when booking the car or later from your rental page. Once the rental begins, you can’t buy mileage package anymore. The size of each mileage package depends on the duration of your rental:

Duration Size of each mileage package
1 hour - 1 day 20 km
2 - 5 days 50 km
6 - 30+ days 100 km

If you exceed your mileage allowance (the sum of the included mileage and mileage package if you bought one), you’ll pay for the extra kilometres/miles at the end of the rental:

  • For rentals with Getaround Connect and Key Exchange rentals, this is done automatically.
  • For rentals with Paper contracts, you’ll decide with the owner whether to pay for the extra kilometres/miles via the Getaround app or directly in cash.

The price for mileage packages and extra kilometres/miles vary by country, car category and type:

Your rental includes 400 km by default. You decide to buy 100 additional km, giving you a mileage allowance of 500 km in total.

  • If you drive 523 km, you’ll be charged for 23 extra km at the price set by Getaround.
  • If you drive fewer kilometres than your allowance, the unused kilometres won’t be refunded.
