We’re happy to announce a new set of features: car inspections and the inspection tool. These two features are being released on the 29th of April, 2024.
The objective of these features is to enable owners and our claims team to have a clearer view of the state of the car over time.
In the past years, Getaround has been striving to create a fair and clear claims management process for both our owners and drivers. Recently, on the driver side, we started asking drivers to declare existing damage when they pick up the car. We also added features that ask drivers to retake photos if they’re not in front of the right car, or if their photos are dark, or blurry.
Today, we’re introducing new features for owners in order to enable them to contribute photos of their cars, and follow the state of their car in the product.
Many members of our owner community were taking photos of their cars on their phones, and simply saving these photos in their phone’s gallery or on their computers. Thanks to the car inspection feature, you can now use the app to do your car inspections, ensuring these photos are saved safely and remain accessible for you and the Getaround team.
The inspection feature is accessible from the car dashboard, as well as from the rental page.
The car inspection will walk you through a set of guided photos of the outside and the inside of the car. You’ll also be asked to capture photos of any existing damage.
For Connect cars, we request that you inspect your car at least every 6 rentals. We’re asking you do this in order to ensure we have as many recent pictures as possible. If your car is damaged, these pictures will enable us to provide the right coverage, and the correct attribution of damage costs.
If you manage a fleet, team members who have the Cars access right can access this feature.
These photos, as well as those taken by drivers during rentals will all be visible in our now inspection tool. This tool enables you to see the state of the car through time, and easily compare pickup, return and inspection photos.
This tool will help you track the state of your car, and ensure you’re able to spot and bumps and scratches that appear on your car, facilitating claim declaration.
This tool is available from the rental page on Web, as well as the rental logbook.
